ANEGADA

This Island is the farthest most island of the BVI and is home to about 250 people.

Unlike its other counter-parts – Anegada enjoys a completely flat terrain with its highest point being roughly 28 feet above sea level. Its name stems from a Spanish derivative meaning “drowned island”. Anegada is about 20sq miles, and you can enjoy the fauna and flora of this Island on a scooter or dirt bike – If you are feeling really adventuresome you can also hike!

Anegada is also rich with history – on this island you will encounter one of the longest coral reefs in the Caribbean at an astonishing 18 miles long aptly named Horseshoe Reef. This coral site is also a graveyard for the shipwrecked boats that have sailed into its waters since the 16th century.

Ever seen a pink Flamingo? Regal and beautiful in its stature. You can find them and the Anegada Rock Iguanas at the local salt ponds. There is a vibrant ecosystem that exists on this island with a myriad of exotic flora and fauna that is located either underwater or inland – so bring along your binoculars and your swimming clothes as these sights are too spectacular to miss.

We also have to mention Coral Island – this is on Anegada and so named because of a mountainous pile of conch shells in every shape and size. Historically the Arawaks started this collection hundreds of years ago and it remains to this day. Around the area you can get some snorkeling in where you are likely to see turtles, stingrays, bonefish and much more.

Allure Charters, where beautiful memories are just a sail away.

Hungry Yet? There are plenty of lovely restaurants on this island, and depending on which restaurant you chose to dine at – you can have your own pick of the freshest lobsters that are caught daily for your eating enjoyment.

Don’t miss out on Anegada for your sailing experience, it is well worth the time to get there.
